I had an old desk given to me that needed the veneer repaired and was too damaged to refinish without a lot of time. I chose to patch and sand the missing veneered areas and paint it white. Although the entire surface has been sanded the stain is showing through the paint and looks pink! What can I do now? Do I have to start all over again and strip the paint? Help.

Hi, janesdesk!

Just a few questions for you that I would appreciate being answered in order to help you the best here.

I'm assuming that you used some sort of patching compound. If that is correct, then below are the questions that I have for you.

What was the patching compound that you used to patch the veneer?

Did you follow all of the directions on the label of the patching compound about application and drying time?

Did you apply one or two coats of primer before applying the paint?

Thanks!
