Can I give joint custody to father of my unborn child before its born?

I have been told that at 20 weeks I can prove it is his to the solicitor for them to draw up joint custody rights on my baby for when the baby is born. Is this right?

You said solicitor so I would assume you're in Canada or the UK?

Hmmmm - not familiar with UK laws - in the U.S. the child has to be born first - in Texas anyway. Good luck on your birth and enjoy your new baby!

Also - usually here - if you share custody time that can mean no child support for you - consult your legal options BEFORE you trust him or sign a thing.
