View Full Version : Can of worms!

All right, I might be opening up a giant can of worms here! I thought this could be somewhere to come when you just need to vent about anything!
I'll start it off by talking about the companies where you pay for their service, but if you need them to come and repair something that is generally their fault, they tell you someone will come out like 2 weeks from Thursday, and they will be there somewhere between 8am and 6pm. I'm talking about phone service, internet repair, TV repairmen, etc. So you sit there all day long waiting for this guy to show up. Well now it's 5:30, and no one has come. You have called the company several times during, and they tell you that they are "on their way". You call at 10 minutes to 6, and they tell you that they came and no one was home! WHAT? I wasted my whole day waiting for you! Then of course, their next available appt time is 2 weeks from Thursday again! But don't you dare miss a payment! They certainly know how to get in touch with you then! We line their pockets, and they treat us like they are doing us a favour, while the big shots are sitting in their multi million dollar houses, and laughing all the way to the bank.
Or how about when you call to begin with and you have to go through a hundred and six options for your problem? Then when you finally get to talk to a human, you can't understand a word he/she is saying! The people you are talking to with a company you figured was based in your Country, has hired a company in India, Bangladesh, or Pakistan, to take their calls! It takes 2 hrs just to make a call and get someone to undertand your problem, and you are paying THEM for this?!
All right, there's my rant for the day! Anyone else feel free! B*tch away! ;)

Alright, I might be opening up a giant can of worms here! I thought this could be somewhere to come when you just need to vent about anything!
Here's my current rant - my hot water tank started leaking two days ago. I called, the plumber was more than willing to come right over - but I have an oversize, quick recovery tank and he didn't have one in stock. He said he could be here today (Monday).
Fine with me but I had to take the car in to be inspected at 9AM today. I suggested tomorrow would be a better day OR he could call to make sure I'm home. He said he'd call.
Got home at 11AM. He's parked in the driveway, hammering on the door, my dogs are ricochetting off the sofa and the picture window, he "forgot" to call first.
When he handed me the bill he "forgave" the extra half hour he spent sitting in my driveway, waiting for me. How nice of him.

Yes isn't it nice when they "forgive" something, like they are doing you a big favour, for their mistakes or bad memory!

How about this one Judy! There was a lawn service suppose to come and do my yard work. They said they were be here the following Monday, then they called and make up a lame excuse and said they would be here Weds. Then when they didn't show on Weds. I called and called. Always got voicemail. This is a fairly large company! I have never heard a word from them since!
Now this wasn't just this last week or anything. This was two months ago! I have offered to pay friends and even family members to do it, because I can't especially at this point. No one has shown up, and I have weeds as tall as I am. Now it's just not a matter of mowing my lawn! I can't even find Niki in the jungle sometimes for God sakes, and she is missing out on a lot of playtime, because I can't find her balls or toys! :(

Gosh starby, wish I could come and help you with that yard. This may sound funny, but tell the kids that one of your cannabis trees is out there not getting enough sun because the grass and weeds are so high,, they'll run through and tear down that grass to get their 'reward'. Well, maybe it's not such a good idea if the cops hear it, but they'd have to go through the jungle too to find the evidence.
Just thought I'd cheer you up a bit honey.

OK, here's my rant...
Today, I spent hours uninstalling a trial version of a security program with all the fixings because I cannot pay to keep it. So, I got some real good freeware that has been rated by confident people. Well after installing them, I noticed that I couln't get into the internet. One of the progs was set so high, that I had a connection, but could not use my browsers... well I finally fixed that.
Now, I'm really mad, because my usual Smiley program - from Smiley Central - is no longer available because one of these super protection programs took it off. Now I had to find another smiley app that would work. Well, I'm not too happy with it, and I miss my regular smileys that I have been using for years.
I still hope that I can find a way to get my old ones back, but if not, I'll just have to get used to the ones available now.
This is in no way as frustrating as your experiences, but I miss my little 'trademarks'
Going to get my next infusion in 2 days and can't wait to see what side-effect will show up after that. If they get too bad, I will discontinue the treatment. The treatment is worse than my monster right now, so cross your fingers.
TTFN,. that's my new mad face.

My current rant??
For the first time in my life I've been played. (Thanks for the definition, Alty!) I "knew" that guys could be flirts because, well, hello, I am too. But, as Alty said, there is a huge difference between innocent flirting and leading someone on. Leading someone on is simply playing with someone's heart and emotions and that's just not cool.
I've been played. And honestly? He's a loser. A player and a loser.
I'm beyond the confusion and the "huh?" and have now moved in to the *snap* "You have missed out on it!" and it feels good.
There. That's my rant. :) Thanks, Starby! :)

My lawn service guy almost never showed up. Now I mow my own lawn. Next year I may buy goats, tether them over here, tether them over there. If the neighbors complain I'll say they are funny looking, exotic dogs.
(Goats eat grass, don't they?)

Sep 16, 2008, 01:50 PM
Hmmm, exotic dogs! Your lawn would get fertilized at the same time! LOL!
Also Momma C, I wanted to mention that I like the idea of telling kids that there is pot growing somewhere in my jungle. Maybe I could tell scary Rhonda that, and she would bring all of her druggie friends with her, and it could be cleaned up in a jiffy! AND this idea may just kill three birds with one stone. If the cops found out, they would at least show up at my house for once when I need them, since they still haven't responded to my last 2 calls, and then I could also tell them that the pot is actually growing across the alley at Scary's house! Good idea Cher! :D
Oh and Judy, maybe if I send the goats across the alley, they can eat Scary's pot, and then they will come back with the munchies, and get the job done quicker! This plan is sounding better all the time! LOL!
My newest rant! I keep hearing my puter ding, and I can't pull myself away! Going now, really... really I am... really! :p

So tonight, since my van is STILL not running right, and I needed a few things, I decided to call our local deliverery service. I had a long day, and needed about 12 items from 2 different places. One was the grocery store, and the other was the cold beer store. Now keep in mind, that these stores are about 12 city blocks away from where I live, and are directly across the street from each other. I always tell them the store I want them to go to, but they have now changed their rates to a flat $9 no matter how far, and each additional "stop" is $3.50. Again, these places are probably 40 steps from each other.
I called them at 6:30, which I knew was their supper rush, so I told them I was trying to be courteous, and it would be fine if the items were here by around 8:30 or so, when the rush was over. I gave my list, in detail, so there wouldn't be any mistakes. I also told them I wanted them to deliver them to the back gate, and that I would be waiting outside. So 9pm comes, no one. I wait till 9:30 still no one. I call the place, get voicemail. Again I wait. 9:45 they call me.
The store I have asked them to go to is already closed. The driver is at another Supermarket across town, and they want to check on the ammt of ham I want. Did I really want 30 lbs of sliced deli ham! WHAT?? Uhmmm, NO! Why the hell would I want with 30lbs of freakin deli meat!? I'm not hosting a wedding here! Now I really want one of these beers!
Well they called after the driver has already gotten this other store to cut it up. I said too bad, not my mistake. Get what I asked for please. 300kgs! He says she will be here in 15 minutes or so. So again I wait and wait. Now it is 10:50. I call back, again voicemail. At 11 I call again! He says she is pulling up out front. I tell him I asked 4 and a half hrs ago for it to be delivered in the back. He says she's scared because it's dark! Well now I'm furious. I tell him to tell her to suck it up princess, and come around back. I've got a long yard, but walked back and waited, as they will usually carry them to the door for me. Niki was out with me, and now princess is scared of dogs, even though I said Niki will not hurt her. She refuses to carry my groceries, and I'm not about to walk back to the house and put Niki in, and then walk back out just so she can help me, so I tell her to just leave them right there and I'll freakin do it myself.
I pay her, and she gives me a dirty look for not tipping, and charges me the full ammt of delivery plus the other stop, which would have been right across the street if she'd have done her job. I finally get my groceries inside. Now if I asked any of you to buy me paper plates, what would you buy? She bought me tiny paper bowls! She got the brand of cigarettes wrong, I asked for plastic cups, I got styrofoam, and I had asked for plain sliced ham, and she got black forest honey ham! (oh, and forgot to mention, I asked for "Beggin Strips" and I had specified they were a dog treat. I got a pkg of bacon! )
Someone is getting a phone call first thing tomorrow! Grrrrrr!. and she was mad because she didn't get a tip??

OK, Im going to rant a bit here. I was enthralled in the TV series Sleeper Cell, and just as you would figure, the last one they aired, I missed because I forgot to program it into my recorder. That pi§§es me off because by the time they bring the re-run, I'll be gone. Can anyone give me a short recap or tell me how it ended? Sure would be nice. I looked for it on LimeWire, but no luck or I would have illegally watched it then. Finally, though now that the writer's strike is over, I am starting to get 2007 episodes of CSI, Miami CSI, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, and Bones without putting up with re-runs. At least I can count on that.
I'm also getting used to some english language programs from England (BBC) such as Spooks, One Foot in the Grave, My Family, - the last two are funny and I wish I could record them for my daughter. She has a collection of Absolutely Fabulous, and I really enjoyed watching these two ladies doing their thing. Spooks is a spy series and really shows what some people and politicians are capable of. Even though they are just TV shows, you'd be surprised as to how close to the 'real deal' they really are.
I have asked my ex son-in-law (my landlord) to change the filter in the air-vent above my stove because it does not work - smoke all over the place when I bake or fry.. but he has not done it yet and it's been weeks. So, I'm getting mad... I think I will fry some smelly fish, open my door and let the smoke wander through the staircase so that everyone in the house can get a hint. There is no smoke-detector in here or it would go off at least a few times a day. Maybe I should get one and let that thing go off at midnight to wake everyone up. That's what I'll do, if I can find one that I don't have to screw on the ceiling, need it portable so that the noise will carry out into the hallway. Yup, that's my next project. Or I wish I could find one of those blow-horns out of a can, that will wake them up.
Done ranting now, getting ready for my weekend.. gosh, charging my camera, charging my handy, checking if I have enough in my current oxygen bottle, getting several bags ready for my laptop, all the postcards I've received already, and naturally my make-up, medication, and change of clothes. By the time I'm done doing all that, I'll be crispy. Going to shut down my internet and play a game to relax me a bit before I get to the busy stuff.
I hope all of you have a great, and peaceful weekend too.
Lots of Love,

Hi all!
My vent today? People who have no idea how to drive. Do these people become blind, deaf and stupid when they get behind the wheel of a car?
It's a 10 minute drive from my house to the kids school, it took me 30 minutes to get home from the school, mainly because of 2 people who were afraid to turn left at an intersection until there were no cars in sight! Arrrrrrrr! Seriously, I'm suffering from road rage. They are so lucky that I don't live in California, I'd have shot someone today! ;)
Also, for some reason, the moms of the kids that were in Sydney's class last year have been snubbing me this week. Why? I don't know. So, today, when I went to pick up the kids, I asked the main culprit what the heck was going on. Her response "Well, your daughter is in the german immursion class now, why do we still have to talk to you, go make friends with the moms of the kids in Sydney's class. I asked her why she would be so mean. Her response "you obviously think you're better than us, otherwise why would you put your daughter in the German class? Why? Because I'm German dumb a$$, that's why. That's the reason that my kids go to that school, there are schools closer to our house than this one. As for thinking I'm better than them, I'm not the one that stopped talking to them, they are.
Good riddance, I have no use for people like that. :(

Momma C, I hope your wkd was a good one! If I was there I would go and slap your ex son-in-law SILLY! I don't know what the laws are there, but here it is illegal for a landlord to rent out a place without a smoke/carbon monoxide detector. They have those new ones now that you can plug in! I would get one of those and set it off at 3am or something just to p*ss them off! Maybe play your music really loud too! Play your Metallica! LOL! That's ridiculous that you have to worry about things like that on top on everything else! Geeezzzz!
I wish I knew what TV show you were talking about. Have you tried to find it on YouTube maybe? They might at least have a clip. I wonder if my ex sis-in-law would know the show. She lives in the UK. I'll ask when I talk to her. That sucks when you watch a show all season long and then miss the finale!

Or my extended family in general - for my birthday, my first time out of the house in a very long time, my cousin and his stepfather got into a ferocious argument about where my cousin is or is not going to be buried and why as well as the funeral arrangements. I might mention my cousin is in his late 30's, has no health problems and had no apparent reason for bringing this up. Meanwhile, his mother and the stepfather's wife, my aunt, and my cousin's wife and their children and my other cousins went right on eating like this was normal. My hands were shaking.
So it went like this (and this is no exaggeration) -
"Happy birth-day to you - "
"And another thing - I want bagpipers at the funeral."
"Happy birth-day to you - "
"Bagpipers? What? Are you nuts? We're German. Germans don't have bagpipers."
"Hap-py birth-day dear Jude-y"
"I don't care. It's my funeral I want bagpipers there."
"What? Are you nuts?"
Happy birthday to me.

How about this one, Altenweg:
I love it when you're driving down a road, no one behind you at all. There's a car on a side street (right or left- doesn't matter) and they decide to pull out in front of you causing you to slam on your brakes to avoid an accident and they turn less than a block down the road... as if they couldn't have waited until you had gone by.

My family are the worst guilt trippers in the world, and the conversation you just mentioned sounds like something that happens in my family all of the time! Or at times the complete opposite! The tension is so thick, you couldn't cut it with an electric knife!. and everyone is just quietly seething!
I've been guilted all day so bad I could scream! Actually, it didn't start today, but there is an event going on today for Thanksgiving. Do you find the "fact" that I'm stalking you adding to your upset? :D You can choose your friends; family is assigned.
And driving - how about those bozos that stay at an intersection, waiting to make a left-hand turn, BEHIND the white line. I'm the one behind them, pounding on the steering wheel and screaming, "Pull into the intersection!" There's a break but they have no time to turn. And so "we" go on waiting.

Well I guess it's better than the "I'm watching you" calls, but it's still a kind of an implied thing now. Two yrs of this has my last nerve frayed!! The cops do nothing, and I end up being awake the entire night! So tired of this dammit! And to think... I've only got 5 months left on a useless "no contact" order! Not even a damn restraining order, which is also just a useless piece of paper, while Nigel goes out and gets loaded and drugged out, and then decides it will be fun to call!
Well I guess since I'm wide awake, I may as well go kick some butt on here. If you see me going off on someone that is just an idiot, you'll know why right? ;)

So sorry this crap is happening again darling. Go to a hardware store and ask about 'horns in a can' or portable fog horns... Then the next time he calls, have Nicki in another room and let that thing do it's damage. The sucker will have a hard time hearing for a while. Makes me p*ssed off and wish I could be there to help. Vent it all my love.. you need to let it out.

Last year they came from Nigeria or Uganda, not they come from China... what next? And to think, the main office is in Japan, and the payment office in China - how stupid do they think we are..! '########

Hi Cher, I was just going to write you an email. I don't have too much time to write much today, because I am "expecting" my brother to be here soon, and he better I tell you!
I got robbed lastnite! I know you probably don't have to ask who was behind that! I was gone to the store for less than half an hr. My door didn't latch again, because dear bro has had more important things to do... like going to the bar maybe... than to show up yet, to fix these things like he was suppose to.
I came home, and had a weird feeling. Something seemed out of place. I brushed it off for awhile, but then I started to notice things. I started to look around, and found out I had money and jewellery stolen, and that my front door was unlocked. It was all of the money I had left until payday, and the jewellery that was taken, quite incoincidentally just happened to be a chain and pendant, that I had made for "N", and took with me when I left. Then this morning, I also noticed that my pain killers were gone too! I can't get them re-filled for another 8 days.
I feel violated! At first I was scared when I finally realised someone had been in here, and then thoughts that there could still be someone here hiding! Then when I ruled that out, it dawned on me, that someone must have been watching me leave. I had taken Niki with me, because she loves her car rides! So they obvously knew that the dog was with me.
The cops didn't show up until about 3 hrs after I called, and then were just useless as usual anyway. They said they were going to investigate, but I know how that usually goes! ;) I think I'm going to lose my ever loving mind!

Oh I hate those things too Cher! I've won more lotteries, gotten more inheritances, and gotten "found" bank acct. money than could last me 2 lifetimes! I feel sorry for the people that actually fall for these things, and send their hard earned money to these scammers!

Thank you my sweets! I was actually just talking about that with my Mom. They are leaving next week to go down. I was stupid though, and I didn't get my passport yet! My bro's girlfriend applied for hers 3 months ago, and is still waiting for it. That's another peeve! When the gov't needs their money, or something from YOU, they have a deadline, and you had better damn well comply! But when they are suppose to be doing something for you, the little person, they will take their own sweet time!
I did have the papers filled out when I was suppose to be going on my cruise, but when I found out it was cancelled, I got lazy on sending them in. So, my fault I guess.
I really appreciate you offering that my Chicky girl, and if I ever get there, I will remember that for sure! I sure couldn't stand to stay with my parents for any extended length of time! ;)
Big Hugs!
Chery

Starby... you need to get that paperwork initiated again, and then take Chicky up on her offer. And Chicky, it's wonderful of you to be such a good friend, not all people are that lucky.
What with the police not doing their jobs, and you brother irritating the heck out of you, you really seriously need a change of scenery and feel some warmth and comfort from one who offers it to you. No matter how long it takes to get the passport, or how long you'll be able to spend with Chicky, it's something that you have to do for YOU! Babe, you know that if I lived closer, you and Nicki would be welcome here too.
If you have a copy of the police report, try talking your doctor into prescribing the pain meds for you a little early. I know that that can be a pain, and the doctor might look funny, but he should be thinking about your pain and discomfort - at least call him and try to get his/her help. I certainly have enough for both of us here, but there is an ocean between us. DARN! By the way, what type are you getting? You know it took me a long time to find a med that worked for my back and joints after the diagnosis of fibromyalgia (three years ago, even though I had it all my life but was not taken serious), so I now take Ortoton for this - it might be called something else in Canada, so the latin name is Methocarbamol 750 mg - and works really good. See if you can find something similar and talk to your doc about it. Then of course there is always Paracetamol Compositum (with Codeine - compared to Tylenol3). As a matter of fact, if I were there, I'd even have a talk with Rhonda and see if she could help - but that's me.
Honey, you really need for something good in your life to happen, and I'm going to keep on trying to push you in that direction.. GET SAD, GET MAD, then just GET UP AND GO! For yourself and Nicki - 'cause I said so... '.
Love you lots.

Thanks Momma C! I am going to find my paperwork and get it sent out, for my passport. I'll send you an email later and tell you what pain meds they are. T3's don't even phase me. I have a very high tolerance for pain meds.
You are all wonderful! Chicky for making such a caring offer from her heart, My Momma C for offering so much of her heart and kindness, when you have so much pain, and so many other problems of your own, Alty for staying on the phone with me while I was freaking out, and managed to calm me down, and Rebby for calling me first thing this morning to make sure I was okay!
All of my family here are always so good to me, and I love you all!
Thank you Cher, I know I need to get the hell out of dodge for awhile. I first have to make sure my house is somewhat secure, and get the things done that are important right now!
Love you! Mmmwaaaa!

OK, I'm here to vent.
I have always tried my best to stay calm when some illiterate 'kids' come on here and disrupt threads with their inconsiderate posts by asking them nicely either through a post or via PM to be a little more mature.
Well, this thread had two 'dudes' who were bored and having fun - it irked me to the max - it even went so far as a nasty PM from one of them... So, yup, Chery is really peeved enough to want to slap these little &(/&)(/&'s right about now.
See for yourselves...

Oooh, I have family in Edmonton. As much I as love Toronto, I really love it out west. I get out there about once every other year, but that's not enough! Hiking up a mountain is sooo much more appealing than walking down a paved path in the Don Valley here in Toronto, lol.
And, your hockey team actually wins sometimes! How do you do it?!
Whenever I think of Edmonton, this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meLpuF9UMvk)comes to mind. O'Canada!

Wow, good video JR, most people don't know our national anthem, unless they go to a hockey game. ;)
I love the Oilers, even though we haven't won in a long time, almost did a while back, and I actually watched the play offs, I don't usually. It was so sad when they lost, I actually cried.
Yes Stringer, I like hockey, I'm loathe to admit it, I'm sure you'll hold it over my head, but alas, I must admit it, after all, I'm in Canada, hockey is a must. :)
JR, I actually live in a town right outside of Edmonton, it's called Sherwood Park. I love it here in the burbs, good schools, shopping, parks, you name it, it's a great place to be.
I have two kids, my rugrats, Jared (10) and Sydney (6) and I have a zoo. 3 dogs, 4 rabbits, 1 bird and 1 gold fish that won't die, he just won't, he's 4 years old, he cost 26 cents, he will live forever. ;)
We have tons of fun on our little member discussion sites, in fact, we've had so many of them that it's hard to keep count. You see a thread can only go to 1500 then it's closed down, we close down one every month or so, so keep on your toes. ;)
I love going to the mountains, we go once a year if we can, to Penticton with the kids and dogs, the bunnies and others stay home. ;)
I hope you join us in the castle too, if you want I'll post the link here. :)

What Canadian doesn't LOVE hockey? I'm pretty sure it is a law by now...
And, if I counted right, that is 9 pets and two kids! Wow. How do you handle all that? I had a cat once... He died, and we decided no to get another one because he was too much to care for. ONE CAT! The most self-sufficient pet, and we thought it was too much. You, with 3 dogs, 4 rabbits, a bird and a fish is crazy... An animal lover, are you? Lol
And I found the castle, thanks. Lol, I am just reading through it quickly to get the jist of it.

Yup, animal lover and a half, I'd adopt more but I think I'm at my limit, so do the neighbours. ;)
Yup, it's the law in Canada, you have to love hockey, if you don't then you better not admit it, you'll be hung in the village square. ;)
Getting the jist of the castle is impossible, things are changing constantly. All you really need to know is that I'm the Queen, Starby's a duck (long story) Stringer is the Sheriff (and he stole my whip) M sits in the corner and watches, Chery monitors us and tells us to behave and others stop in once in a while to keep us in line (that's impossible). ;)
It's a fun place, just watch out for the alligators in the moat. ;)

Starduck (Starby) had a bit of fun with one of the alligators and the result was a crocduck, or Alliduck? Anyway, it's a scary creature, stay away from it, you could lose an arm. :)
Ducky is minus a puter right now, her mean evil brother took it away in the hopes that Daddy could fix it. Kids, we may need to pitch in and get Starduck a new puter, whenever her brother says "It'll be done asap", it usually takes a few years. I know I'd miss her, wouldn't you? OK,I'll join in.
My job is getting to me... Hmmm like that has never happened to anyone before.
It's not the job itself(I am installing a hand split shake roof on an 1860's barn)It's the customer that is doing all the stresses.
He is my fathers diabetic doctor.
She is a nurse in the local ER.
I was referred for this job through the local lumber yard,All good so far.
It began with a 3 week delay due to the timber framers being late for erecting the building(was taken down and trucked to site)much less they were dragging their feet completing the project.
The customer(SHE) began calling me daily as we had a schedule situation to address due to the delays. She began to say how she felt about the framers, statements made to her,she felt were inappropriate, then she accused the foreman of being(her words)passive/aggressive.
I know of this man and father does also,we never thought of him as anything more than a good hard worker.
OK,so she asks me not to come to the job until the framers were gone,as to avoid confrontation,so to speak.NO PROBLEM
When day 1 came to set my equipment up and prep for starting, she states that the framer came to her and asked if something was wrong? she said "I Let loose on him",telling him how she disliked him personally, how the delays were unprofessional, and how she would never be a reference for him or his outfit.
When I did start the job,she would come out and ask questions, talk freely, even to the point of bugging me(I never let her know that though.I thought-just an inquisitive customer)
By the time I completed half the job all was well.
Now(since last week) she and her husband haven't spoken 1 word to me or my helpers. We have been there while they were home(including today)I have made myself available to them while they were in the yard, not 25 feet from me,waved and said Hi,got no response, not even a nod.
This, I feel, is passive behavior on both of their parts.
This is a copy of how she treated the framers.
I am preparing for the shoe to drop in my direction now(OK maybe I am being paranoid,, butt who nose?? right?)
I'll complete my project(weather permitting) by Wed.
On another part of this property(50 feet from my job) another contractor is building a very elaborate horse shed( a copy of a Norwegian church, really nice,on paper) I think he is in for a nasty time with this customer.
She has shown to be the passive personality twice, and aggressive once(I have yet to hear the venting).
Hmmm, what to do,AFTER getting paid, ask her to visit friends in the psych. Unit and look up the meaning of passive/aggressive behavior?
I wish.
Ok long story, short ending.

I'm self taught, my shop is my garage, but I've been picking up tools whenever I have some extra money. Last year I got a lathe, I absolutely love it! I also got a really nice planer, that sure makes life a bit easier.
I like working with tile a lot, and I've picked up a few very nice woods to work with. My personal favorite is maple, even though it's a pain in the butt to sand smooth.
Maybe I'll post a few pics too, if you promise not to laugh. ;)

Laugh? At a fellow entrepreneur? Are you kidding,, I'd just as soon gag my dog with a fork...
Maple, while nice when wet for turning on the lathe, is such a hard wood to work when dry,I had a piece of old bowling alley (all maple and compressed by the many years of bowling leagues, :) )and made it into a large chopping block.Resurfacing it took just about forever.

KBC, I love that set. If I owned a hotel with inside pool, you'd be making at least a dozen with foot-stools to go with it. I'd probably paint the backs in rainbow colors and the rest in burnt orange too. This is pure talent!
I love to work with soap-stone and have a few tools collected, but have no place to work in anymore. It was such fun to make something out of blocks that looked like jade, marble and even opal. The products I made have been distributed among family and friends as gifts and look super when periodically treated with sewing machine oil. I even made a few sets of ear-rings out of the jade and opal pieces which I sold along with Christmas window-color pictures.
Starby, I just love that purse. Right now, I use a black diaper bag because there is so much I have to take along, i.e. cameras, bottle of water, and more. Nobody has noticed that it is not a 'real' purse. The only thing I don't include with it is the changing mat and bottle warmer - don't need them anymore.
I was going to rant a bit here, but after seeing that furniture and purse, decided to save the rant for later.

People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
But when the darkness sets in,
Their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

Having experienced her five stages of grief, I enjoy her work from a personal perspective.
I adore that little poem because it is so true... its me. I love it when I find small pieces of literature that describe a piece of who I am.
When people ask me to tell them something about me, my answer is always "I'm a mosaic." Then I quote them this little poem. Mosaics are the most beautiful pieces of art and architecture - but what are they? Broken pieces of something that was once whole... but they are more beautiful because they've been broken...

Thank you. :)
Yup, router, and it wasn't fun, but so worth it, back then I didn't have a router table, so I just used a piece of wood and a lot of clamps. I joined them with dowling. I didn't want to nail them or screw them together. I did screw the base that holds up the tile though, it's a heavy tile, I wanted it to be sturdy.
Got to love oak. Those pieces where leftovers from when we did our ledging in the basement. :)

BTW,I want a look underneath,to see the way your legs are attached......OMG that sound deliciously wicked ....LOL
No can do, that table is gone, I gave it away as a birthday present to my friend for her 40th birthday two years ago.
The legs are dowled to the top of the table and then the base for the tile is screwed into the legs, just to make it more sturdy. I usually build a shelf underneath, for stability and looks.
I'll take more pictures soon and post them. I usually make around 10 of one type of table, different woods, different stains, different laquers, then I start a new design.
I love using tile. A few years back a friends brother worked for a demolition company. They were demolishing a tile company. He called us and asked if we'd like to come remove the tile from the show room, whatever we removed would be ours. We spent 4 days there, ended up with some really nice tile. The tile was so easy to remove, they only attached it with glue because they redid the showroom a lot and wanted the tile to be easy to remove. I have slate, granite, you name it. I could probably make around 10,000 tables, or tile my entire house, including the walls. ;)

Okay, I have a gripe.
My 24 hour bra so isn't. I'd give it a 5 hour rating, and then it starts to get annoying. Who invented underwire? Who thought it would be a good idea to put that underwire in a garment that a women wears on her breasts? Do they realize that behind the breasts lays your heart? It's not a good idea to wear something that could stab you in the heart if you have a wardrobe malfunction.
Also, who invented panty hose? Unless you're robbing a bank, I really don't see any good use for panty hose. I'm 5'11" most panty hose are made for women 5'5" or less. I do not need to have a tight pair of hose where the crotch is around my freaking knees.
While we're on the topic. What about high heels? Really? Do these people want to kill us? High heels are dangerous, extremely dangerous. Also, they hurt like hell.
Personally, I think that we should get all these inventors together (I'm sure they're all men) and make them wear all of their inventions for 2 weeks. Let's see how happy and chipper they are then.
PMS my arse, it's our clothing that makes us grumpy!
Okay, I'm done. ;)

Ya, that baby Jesus has been in our family for over 40 years. He's older than I am. Maybe I'll put the manger scene up high on a table. I can't have Christmas without the manger, but I don't want to risk Jesus being eaten. Actually, I think Chewy would go after one of the sheep, that would be okay, there are 5 of them. ;)

Now I'm insulted - yes, I could be the legal consultant but I DO think there's a big market out there for clothespin reindeer and, quite candidly, some of mine turned out, well, rather OK. There was some question originally just what animal they were supposed to be but after a VERY brief explanation everyone recognized them as reindeer.
The people who thought they were Great Danes obviously have vision problems.

Alty, you make some super tables dear.
I too think that the barter system would be fun. We can all take pics of things we produced and share then - but I think a different thread name would be more appropriate.
HC, I too have problems during the holidays, I don't know if I should look forward to them and get disappointed, or just forget about them, but I do try my best to cope and not be too depressed... we could just email each other a lot during that time to keep busy - I'm here if you need me, and you know it.
Well, did my chores, answered my mail, now I have to rest to make sure I don't miss my infusion appointment at 0800 in the morning. Almost didn't make it on time last one. I hate getting up so early, especially after not sleeping all night.
The dudes who invented pantyhose, bras and high-heels will certainly get a piece of my mind when I leave this planet, so don't worry Alty - I'll give them hell for the both of us.

We put up lights outside the house, and then decorate like crazy inside. I don't know about the crazy decs inside this year though, not with puppy boy running around. I really don't want baby Jesus from my manger scene being eaten. That would be bad. ;)
Stringer... are you Mr. Christmas? :D
Alty... Christmas is a joyous time... DO NOT LET YOUR PUPPY eat Jesus... that would be bad;)

YES... let it be known, I am Mr Christmas Start. As YOU know, it is my very favorite Holiday. I really love the getting together, the joy, and... I love to decorate for Christmas, inside and especially outside.
I picked up our award last night at the Village Board Meeting for our Halloween decorations, came in 3rd out of 10 winners. There are 22,000 homes in the village so I guess that we did pretty good?
How are you and the family? Are you getting ready for Christmas? :) 22, 22, 22, 22

Judy, I'd like 12 reindeer please. The puppy needs some chew toys. ;) Kidding, you know I love you! :)
Nope, no baby Jesus for Chewy. I'm hoping he'll go after one of the shephards sheep, like I said, there's five of them. ;)
I just took the manger scene out to have a look. It's old, and plastic, and some of the paint is coming off, I think I might have to do some touch ups.
I have another manager scene that my parents bought me when I got married. It's ceramic and huge. I put it on the ledge above my front closet. A few years back I was putting it up (I have to climb on a ladder to do it) and Mary lost a hand. I was devastated. Hubby tried crazy glue but it didn't work, so I just laid her hand next to her, thinking I'd fix it when the season was over. Well we've tried many times now to fix it, but that darn hand won't stay on. So Mary is minus a hand. Last year I dropped one of the wise men, he almost lost a head. I'm really lucky my kids are still in one piece. ;)
Bras are a necessary evil, I know, but sometimes I think it would just be easier to be a nudist. ;)

Congrats! Honey.
It does not matter who posts them, as long as you enjoy doing it and take pictures at Christmas time - and get someone to take a pic of Marta and you in at least one of them, please. You know how much I appreciate the talents of all of my friends here and it also makes me feel closer to you all.
The dudes who invented pantyhose, bras and high-heels will certainly get a piece of my mind when I leave this planet, so don't worry Alty - I'll give em hell for the both of us.
TTFN.

Yes Stringer, ladder, person, nearby, do it! Be good, or Starty and I will kick your butt. I'll throw Judy's reindeer at you! ;)
We've had quite a few casualties. The worst was last year. We have a few Tree toppers. A star, an angel and a glass sphere that belonged to my parents. They bought that sphere shortly after they were married. In fact, that first year the only thing on the tree was the sphere, they couldn't afford to get other decorations.
I alternate between the three and last year it was time for the sphere. I put it on the tree but apparently I didn't push it over the stem well enough. It fell, crashed to the floor and burst into a million pieces. I was devastated! I couldn't hold back the tears, and I felt so bad about it. Christmas tree decoration time is my favorite, and I ruined it. The next day was a Saturday, and hubby and the kids let me sleep in. When I got up they all ushered me into the family room where the tree stood. On top of the tree was a star that the kids made. It's crooked, you can see the glue, the sparkles are all over the place, and it's the most beautiful and cherished ornament that I have. :)

Thanks you two. I do have wonderful kids. They drive me nuts at times, they sure know how to push my buttons, but in the end, we're a family and we all love each other very much.
They're my life, I hope they know that.
Cute story about Jared one Christmas. He was 3, and our friend was coming over to exchange presents. It was 2 days after Christmas, Jared had gotten more toys than 4 kids put together. He didn't know what to play with first.
Anyway, our friend came over and gave Jared his present. When Jared took off the wrapping paper he saw the box that his present was wrapped in. It was a cereal box. Jared was thrilled, ran up to our friend, gave him a big hug and said "Yay, food, thank you so much!" We all burst out laughing, but I was secretly really proud. Most kids would have cried, would have pouted because it wasn't a toy (which it was, but he didn't know that), but Jared was just so happy that our friend had thought of him, he didn't care what the present was.
At 10 years of age, he's still like that. Even if he doesn't like something that he gets, he always has a smile, a hug and a thank you for the person who gave it to him.
Then there's Sydney. You could give her toilet paper and she'd be thrilled!
Really, I have great kids. Thanks for making me remember that. :)

I want to barter clothespin reindeer.
Awww, I guess I missed that Judy! Sooorryyy! :o Okay... clothes pin reindeers it is then! Sounds cute! :D

Okay! I've got a rant! Can we talk about people that cross their fingers and hope someone's 40 yr old furnace won't crap out in -40 degree weather, because they just can't afford a new one? But then go and buy a brand new boat to replace the OLD one they bought 2 yrs ago? And then they send you pictures to boot! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Talk about "In Ya Face Biotch"! Can anyone here identify these people? :p

Yay, I'm bugging mommy! I had fun at school today. I played soccer, that's what I do every day, unless we have inside reccess. Usually I'm on Brennon's team. It was hard getting goals on Adam, he's good. I think that's all. Oh, and hi! :)

About the flirting, I'd much rather be flirted with by a 42 year old then a 12 year old. One of those options could land me in jail.

I'm really battling, Alty. You know the struggles I'm facing these days... with your own experiences of the last week.
Its Father's Day on Friday. THe day my Dad went home.
I hate being one of "those people" who talk about their losses all the time, but I just feel really melencholy these days. Melencholy because of losing my Grammy, melencholy because of the anniversary coming up, melencholy because of holidays... and I don't like holidays anymore... I mean, I do, but they just aren't the same.
I need to take m y own advice over on the Bereavement forum and just use my own Ten Minute RUle, but I'm just... Rah...
But, on the plus side, I found an entire store devoted to Hello Kitty.
Go figure.
This is the randomosity of my life. Sneezy has dubbed me the Queen of Random. I kind of like that.

KBC, I'm the black sheep, but there's room for more than one of us. ;) Oh my, MommaC will have her hands full now.
Of course you're a part of our family, that's a given.:)
I was born in Germany, yup, that's where I hatched. Rothenburg ob der Tauber to be exact, moved to Canada when I was almost 4, been here ever since, with the occasional visit back home. I haven't been back to Germany since 2001, it's expensive to fly 4 people over, not to mention the pet care expenses while we're gone, the car rental, the hotels (none of my family can house the 4 of us) and also there's the problem of my stinking passport. I'm still a German citizen, it's hard for me to get my passport renewed right now.
Ah, I should be putting this in Starby's "can of worms" thread. :(

HA! My Dad grew up in Quebec... took me to Red Wings games as soon as I could walk. Some of my favorite Daddy-daughter memories are in the season tickets right on the glass to the feeder team to the Buffalo Sabres.
And I could always get a puck... ;)

From Wikipedia
Queue area, where a line of people wait. The verb queue means to form a line, and to wait . Queue is also the name of this line

Ahhhh... the live Hockey Games! My Dad used to have his pilots license, and he used to fly me and my friends to Flames games. He even used to fly us to games where the Jr league MH Tigers were playing. Manitoba, Sask, BC. Billings MT. etc.
A lot of great players came from the small town where I live. Lanny McDonald (he used to date my Aunt, and took us to our first game) Kelly Hrudey (I dated him... honest I did. Nice guy!) Trevor Linden (known him since he was a kid) Morris Lukowich, Chris Osgood, Rob Leidermayer, Brian and Darryl Sutter, Tom Lysiac (went to school with his sis Janice) Murray Craven, (my ex did his farming for him) Gord Geddos (he puked on my shoes, at a party I had... lol) and a ton more.
I miss going to the games actually. We had a blast! :D

And just where does this LINE form,I can distract all those others, jump ahead, and see where all those hockey loving women are hiding.
Although I have never dated any players... I still love the game
