I have three oil paintings signed by Philip Sandee. Where can I find information about this artist? I have tried numerous searches and come up with nothing.

I have two of his paintings, and I am having trouble like you in finding out about him. I have found one of his painting at the Shultz library USA. And have emailed them for information

Actually, it's the Schurz Library at the University Indiana South Bend.
I have one signed painting of Sandee's, but I'm afraid you'll find the people at Shurz have no information on him. I actually contacted the man who gave the painting to Shurz and he volunteered nothing, said he knew nothing about Sandee.

I would be interested in seeing all of the painting mentioned in the your post, and the original post as well. I'm new to this board and will post an image of my painting, if either of you wish, as soon as I'm familiar with the process.

I just wanted to bring this back to the top hoping that the first two posters would see it. I've been looking for information on Sandee for 7 or 8 years, and really have nothing to show for it, other than Sandee was from the Great Lakes area, and did a lot of marine, water, beach scene work.

I've never seen anything of his other than the one I have.

Thanks, John

I have 13 paintings of Philip Sandee (please search for Philip Sandee at bestpaintings.org). Does anybody have a picture of Philip Sandee's signature from the painting at Schurz? Though I think my paintings are authentic, still I want to compare the isgnatures. If you have one, would you please send me at [email protected] .

I haven't seen the painting in the South Bend library, but can attach a copy of the signature from the painting I have if you wish.

I would be interested in seeing your paintings, however.

I also have a Philip Sandee oil painting that was given to me around 20 years ago. I is a young girl with bonnet and long dress, seagull on the beach, very pretty. It is approx. 5 X 7 in a lovely shell design heavy frame. Did you find any info on your beach painting that you found at Goodwill?
Hope to hear back from you.

Purchased a beautiful huge canvas signed philip sandee artwork 10 years ago at a thrift store in Florida... heard he sold his art in Bellport,NY during the summers at Artist on the Lane... other than that.. all I know is that he might be from the great lakes area... however, have seen many of his works.. and they are breathtaking... wish I could find out more about this artist...

I also have a Sandee painting given to me by my mother. She says somewhere she has a certificate of authenticity. Perhaps if she can find it it will provide some information that will help some of you. Also if you would like a photo of the signature you can send me an email at [email protected]. I would be happy to provide one.

I own a Philip Sandee oil painting too... I love it... It is in beige and gold and a burgundy type of muted brown tones and is a scene of a lake, with what looks like 3 banks, or 3 islands on the left, with the sun setting in white hues just above the islands or banks.. there are 3 birds in the sky and what looks like grass's or bull rush's in the front of the picture it is 53 inch wide by 33 inch tall when in its heavy gold ornate frame. I know nothing of this artist either, but this is my first attempt to find out too, so if anyone knows any more about him, I would love to know too... I will also swap pics, with other willing swappers of their pics in order to see a wider variety of this artists work... I can be contacted on [email protected] if any one wants to email me... Cheers and good luck to us all...

I have a painting from Sandee dated 9/16/78 that I purchased in Provincetown, Cape Cod. This is the first time in almost 35 years that I'm searching for his whereabouts, and also to find out if I hit gold! I think it's apparent that I keep my day job.

Found a Phil Sandee oin painting at a yardsale recently. It was originally the owner's mother's painting. I have it on the shelf over the fireplace.
