Does anyone know any good books that will assist me in learning jewelry making?

If you have access to a workshop, 'Teach yourself jewellery making' by Emma Gale and Ann Little is a really good book for beginners. Good luck :-)

It depends on what you are considering making... Do you plan to actually cast gold rings, etc? Or just stringing beads?

What do you want to make?

Check out your area for jewelry training or the local collages or trade schools.

Or come to Dallas and I will teach you.

The library is an excellent source of interesting books on jewelry, beading, and lots of other crafts. Make sure that the book talks about specific crafts, though, and not about the history of certain processes.

Then there's also similar sections in Borders and Barnes and Noble. It's fun to just read the titles to see what interesting things you'll find.

Head to your local library and ask for help finding books on beading and wirewrapping- even if you aren't that into beads that will give you a good solid foundation from which you can advance... And you'll be quickly making stuff with minimal supplies so you'll have some instant gratification to propel your desire to expand your skillsets... Also- you don't need to buy all your tools at once, pick them up as you go along, from project to project...

Also this company is having a sale on books right now:
Thunderbird Supply Company (http://www.thunderbirdsupply.com) and they have supplies...

I am a jeweler/silversmith and started with beads and now have moved into metal fabrication in a very short time but I do use my basic beading and info I found in wirewrap books every time I do a project...

Best wishes and good luck! Warning: jewelry making is EXTREMELY addictive!
