I purchased a Harbor Breeze Triton remote control ceiling fan, Model #136954. I have misplaced the instruction booklet. Where do I place the transmitor for the remote? I seem to recall it is placed in the ceiling in the bracket. Is this correct?

Most remote controls work on infra-red light pulses. Not on radio-frequency data transfer.
What transmitter do you actually mean ?
Perhaps you mean the logic that has to replace the pull cord switch ?

I mean the black box where the wires come out of and there is 1 black wire that has a cap on the end which I suppose would stick out of the ceiling for the remote to communicate with.

So you mean the receiver. The remote IS the transmitter.

What are you asking? Isn't the receiver already installed at the fan? Are you asking about the antenna wire?

The receiver mounts inside the ceiling canopy with the mounting bracket.
