My cat is in labour. About 24 hours ago she was nesting and had a fluid bubble break but no kittens yet? She is comfortable and friendly, secluded. She does not seem to be in any distress or pain. Her tummy is contracting slightly. She is eating and drinking small amounts. My concern is the time frame. Is it normal for her water to break and then it take so long before she gives birth?

No, it's not normal at all. The entire litter should normally be delivered within 6 hours of labor starting. The most likely case is that your cat has a (now-dead) kitten stuck in the birthing canal. You need to get to a vet to see what needs to be done to fix this problem. Most likely you are looking at surgery to remove the kittens.

Thank you you were right. She Delivered her kittens on her own last night. The first one was born still born, the second one lived. She then went another few hours before she delivered the third still born and the fourth is also alive. She had four and two are alive and well. Poor girl... strange though because she showed NO signs of distress and every where you read about cat's and birth they tell you that cats almost always give birth without problems. She made it with us right beside her for all that time. It is unfortunate however there must have been something wrong because the third kitten (second still born) was not fully developed. I believe the first one probably died of stress because it looked fully developed. They are buried on our farm. Mama will be getting fixed as soon as these little ones are weened. Thanks for answering.
