My E:/ drive doesn't work, when I put in a CD it makes noises sort of like its reading something but nothing comes up. Even when I search the drive manually, can anyone help?

Can I assume it used to work? Anyway... XP SP3 is the culprit.

Read my post here: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/cd-dvd-drives/cd-drive-not-reading-cds-not-hardware-trouble-258000.html

It used to work but I've had SP3 since 2002, it was working till about a month ago then it just sort of stopped. My D:/ has never worked so maybe its causing that to break but I can't see how it would take 6 years for it to cause E:/ to break. If you know of anything else post me back. Thanks

SP3 was just released this year... you can't have had it since 02. Maybe SP2. XP may have done the auto update on its own. Try those instructions.

Oh crap yeah that makes sense man, I set up this thing to get windows XP updates when they were released. Well this makes much more sense, know how to uninstall it without wiping anything else?
