Hi experts

I recently reinstalled windows xp. Under devise manager I have the yellow? Flag on the "multimedia audio controller" under "other devises." I have tried to reinstall the driver by clicking on the yellow item, but that has not worked.

I have gone to dell to download drivers (maestro 3i), with no apparent success. I have downloaded and run aida32 but, frankly, do not know what the results mean.

This seems to be a common problem after reinstall.

Does anyone have a solution for the computer lay person?

Thanks

Teddy

Is this the audio/sound acrd that came installed in the PC? What kind of PC (e/g/. Dell, hp, toshiba, etc) do you have? P2E

Thank you all for your attention and responses; it seems I will never understand computers.

My PC is a dell 4550. I went back to the dell site and retraced my steps to find drivers for this machine, clicked a few times and this time it worked. So THAT problem is solved, whew.

I have another, more toothy problem tho:

I have a partitioned hard drive, into 3 parts 40/20/20 gigs each, total 80. I used partition magic to partition the drive. When I reinstalled windows xp I directed it to format "c" which is my 40gig portion.

After the install, my PC only shows a 40 gig c drive; the other 2 partitions are "missing." I can understand if I lost data on those drives, which is bad enough, but I hurts worse to lose the storage.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

Thanks in advance

Teddy

You might just have to assign drive letters to these partitions.

Right click "my computer" & choose "manage"
Go to "disk management"

You should get a graphical representation of your hard disk and any partitions on it. If any don't have a letter - right click them and assign drive letter.

Good luck!
