My Grandmother wants me to ask wherever I can this question. My grandfather has filed for personal bankruptcy. She did not file with him. He just file recently and still has about 8 months on paying the trustee. He was admitted to ICU this morning and they do not know if he will leave there. If he dies before the bankruptcy is discharged will she have to pay the payments to the trustee upon his death? Thanks for your help.

If she was not responsible for his debts when he was alive, she is not responsible following his death.

However - I would check with the trustee to see if his estate has any liability.

This is an important financial/legal issue and she should go straight to the trustee.
