Murray 14hp, 42" cut
md# 42813x92A

My murray was starting and running fine one day, and the next the engine would'nt turn over. I charged the battery, nothing. I replaced the solenoid, checked all my wiring connections, cleaned the contacts, checked the fuse, cleaned the ignition contacts, and cleaned the grounding wires and areas. Everything seems to be connected right, no broken wires, jumped the battery to the starter, the engine will turn over a few times then stop, but won't crank. When I turn the ignition I hear a click in the starter, but nothing else.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be the trouble?

Try removing the spark plug. Try to crank the engine... if it cranks, observe if gas is blown out of the cylinder... if it doesn't crank, replace the starter. If the cylinder is filled with gas, which can happen, the motor won't crank sufficiently. If it doesn't crank without compression, it's more than likely a starter issue.
