Two weeks ago I was accepted by a smaller local company for a open position. They proceeded to put me through a series of tests which I passed with great scores and then they asked me for a face to face interview. At this employer they required I fill out a quick paper application. It came to the point where I can't recall what it said. It either stated write down any crimes committed in the last five years, or it just stated list crimes and convictions without a time frame. I put no and proceeded with interview which went perfect. A couple days went by and they called me and asked if I would accepted, I said yes and they gave me a time and place for physical, drug test and sent packet which I signed and returned. I had physical and drug test today along with some exrays. It was very extensive and took over three hours, I have never had one take this long. My question is. I was convicted of a Felony 10 years ago Malicious Destruction of Police Property, basically I got in the middle of a bar fight in a parker lot with friends and others and three bouncers pinned me up against a police car and a window shattered. I was charged and feeling stupid and ashamed because it was the only thing I ever did wrong plead guilty received probation. I paid my fines and behaved, probation ended in a year. Right now due to the extensive tests I had are they going to do the same for my background check? It is a driving/maintenance job, but like I said a small company with great benefits and pay. I am freaking out because I can't remember wording on application. I am tempted to come clean but if I call and tell them will it disqualify me. Or because it was ten years ago will it not be a issue being it was so long ago. I want to be honest but I really want this job, don't know what to do. By the way this forum is awesome!

Does anybody else have any helpful information about my question? I would really appreciate it!

I would call the precinct where this happened and ask an officer if it is still on record. Could be it is already expunged after l0 years but not sure. Ask.

You have to keep the thread going, DSTPRT and be patient. There will be other replies. Don't post separate questions on the same topic.

Please if you have more info or want to add to a post, do not start a new thread, merely answer to this question to add to it.

This does not work like a blog, so no one reading your new question will have any idea what you are talking about.
I have merged the two posts this time.

*** Ok, yes any company doing that much medical and questions and interviews are going to run a back ground check. And yes, any conviction ever done will show up. So yes it shows up.

And what they asked you was very important, if they asked you for ANY, EVER, then you lied on your application and will not get hired, If they asked for any in the last 7 years, then most likely it will not hurt.

So what they said is the key to this.

Also lets say there are three people, all of you with similar experience and background, if the other two don't have any convictions and you have one, guess which one will not get the job.
