We have been trying to get pregnant. We had sex around the time I may have ovaluted. Now I got spotting 4 days before my period was due. It lasted for two days stopped for 12 hrs then started back up again. I have used about two pads a day. Usually my period is much heavier. I took some early pregnancy tests and they were negative but my real period is not due until tomorrow. Also I had some small clots. Could this be an early miscarriage or could I be pregnant? Or do periods just get really light sometimes? I was diagnosed with a ovarian cyst and also a fibroid any info would be great thanks.

Emily,

Have you asked your doctor whether their size or position could cause problems, and which symptoms to watch for?

Most women experience no pregnancy complications. For the 10 to 30 percent of pregnant women with fibroids who do end up having complications, the most common is abdominal pain, which occasionally may be accompanied by light vaginal bleeding. The baby is rarely affected unless the bleeding is substantial.

Fibroids sometimes grow larger during pregnancy, because of pregnancy hormones. For reasons that are not well understood, a fibroid may also get smaller during pregnancy. Your doctor may recommend ultrasound examinations to see whether your fibroid is growing or likely to cause complications.

Research shows that the first appearance of HCG (implantation) occurs 6-12 days after ovulation, with 84% of the pregnancies implanting on days 8-10 after ovulation. If you don't get a positive pregnancy test, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are not pregnant. It could be that you ovulated later than you thought (meaning that conception and subsequent hCG production didn't happen as when you expected) or that, for you, implantation took longer than the average.

I hope you get good news soon - BC

Thanks for the advice about fibroids and cysts. I really need to make an appointment with the gyn.

The spotting could be from any of those reasons... could be due to the cyst, could be a very early miscarriage (most go unnoticed), could be from a pregnancy, could be just an unusual period this cycle. Give it another week and see what happens with your period. If you still do not have a regular one, try another test at that time.

I went to see my doctor yesterday and she said it just sounded like I had gotten my period. She said any bleeding at all is a period which I am not sure I agree with. I asked her if pregnancy can cause spotting and she said it does but it is rare and does not last more then about two days. I took a pregnancy test yesterday at home negative and they did a urine one at the doc's office also negative. After three months of trying I am starting to wonder if we can even get pregnant?

Don't worry yourself somuch it took me and my partner 7 months to get pregnant! I was wondering if we could get pregnant at 3 months but I decided to not think about it so much and just relax sometimes trying to hard and stressing over it doesn't help!

I took 4 pregnancy tests today. The first one had a faint plus sign for positive the next three were negative what do I believe and what do I do next? Tomorrow I have to go to the docs office anyway for some unrelated bloodwork should I ask them to take another test?

Wouldn't hurt... let them know you got a faint positive on the one. They may suggest testing for pregnancy since they are drawing blood anyway, have you do a urine test in the office, or suggest that you wait a week and test again at that time.

I went to the doc and got a bloodtest done hopefully that should clear up the confusion.
