Tub spout turned on the coupling attached to the cooper pipe while trying to get it off. Sniped the spout off and cut off the brass coupling (that some iddiot had placed with tiny screw).

Used a dremmel to cut off the brass thredded coupling and made an hole in the cooper pipe an inch from the wall.

Can I just patch, solder the hole or do I need to go inside the wall? I have one of those plastic oval one piece showers .

The new spouts have to go in smoothly through that coppper pipe.

A slip on. I cut the copper pipe too much with the dremmel.

You're going to run into a problem if you float a solder patch over the copper pipe. It will bind the "O" ring and roll nit out of its slot. This will cause the spout to leak. You still have the option of soldering on a 1/2" male adapter and using a screw on spout but if you wish to install a slip on the copper pipe MUST be smooth and clear. This includes any burrs on the end of the pipe as that will catch the "O" ring also. Good luck, Tom
