I know a lot about money. However, in some ways, I don't know ANYTHING about money. Now, I know that mortgage companies are still lending money, or there wouldn't be any of them around. I also know, that it's very hard to get a mortgage today.

So, who is getting loans today?

People with excellent credit ratings who are borrowing less than 80% of the appraised value of the property.

Some banks are lending money ( so to speak) on property they have foreclosed on, to some lower credit scores, but they already own the property, so no money is really changing hands, they just start getting payments. But in many cases they are asking max values of the homes and higher interest .
