My father served in WWII with Blue Eagle, the artist and was given an original painting by him in the 1940's. It is of an Indian chasing a buffalo spirit (I believed named Spirit of the Buffalo). I would like to find some history on Blue Eagle and possible value of this painting.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, SSpider

Does the painting that you have look anything like the styles of paintings that you might find via clicking on the following image search? If so, which ones, please?

Blue Eagle Artist - Google Image Search (http://images.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&q=Blue+Eagle+Artist)

Thanks

There is a small article on him on wikipedia;
Acee Blue Eagle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acee_Blue_Eagle)

A little bit on this site;
Guide to the Collections of the National Anthropological Archives (#B2) (http://www.nmnh.si.edu/naa/guide/_b2.htm)

And an article on a book about him here;
http://www.medicinewheelpress.org/AceeBlueEagle.html

Also, here is the Google search I used to get these pages;
artist "Acee Blue Eagle" - Google Search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=artist+%22Acee+Blue+Eagle%22&meta=)

I hope that's the right "Blue Eagle" and that those pages help you out a little bit!

Yes! Much like "Mother, Child & Deer", "Caddo Creation Legend", etc. Mine has an Indian with a spear - head shaped like a buffalo - atop a pinkish paint horse chasing a buffalo with the "spirit of the buffalo" looking on (almost like a buffalo head spear in the sky).

Thanks for all the info - lots now to research!
