I'm being sued by 2 credit card comp. that I know of. Can they take my car from me? It's paid off.

Depending on the State, yes, they can.

Do they? Usually not - they don't want the problems involved with taking it, selling it, storing it and all of that.

They'll go after your bank account and wages first - and probably never go after your car.

If they win a judgment, many jurisdictions allow the levy of personal property to be sold at sheriff's auction to apply to the judgment.

Not sure about where you live, but it is allowed here in the Midwest states.

This can include boats, cars, real estate, and in some cases, anything of real value that is the property of the judgment debtor.

I would try to work out a payment arrangement prior to being sued.

We agree with JudyKayTee. The only thing that we would add is that in some jurisdictions certain assets are exempt from seizure and sale to satisfy a judgment. In Ontario, where we practice, a vehicle valued at $5,650 is exempt from such a seizure.
