I am 16 and am not sure about the pregnancy of this girl and I would like to get the information on how to sign my rights off and do I still have to pay child support.

I won't discuss on my thoughts about signing off your rights as you thought you were mature enough to have sex but not the consequences stemming from it.

And YES regardless if you decide you don't want to be in the child's life, you WILL pay child support

What state are you in because that's going to make a difference on the answer.

As far as quick legal advice this isn't cutting it. The OP is a minor child and state laws vary so greatly there wasn't enough information to give a good " legal " answer. This is a legal board so lets try our level best to keep it that way. Thanks

Actually, just because he is a minor does not mean he is exempt from the laws of child support. It will be his familys responsibility to then provide child support.

That's incorrect also. Its going to depend on the state this is taking place in as to the disposition of child support and how its going to be distributed. Its not his parents responsibility to pay child support in any way.
That's why its important to know the state so we can better inform the OP about what may or may not happen in his case.

There is no way that a man can just get out of paying child supprt no matter what state he lives in just because he decides that he doesn't want to be a dad. He was old enough to have unprotected sex. Chances are that the mother of the child is also underage. You can't just sign over your rights and if you are not on the birth certificate the mother can take you to court at any time and order a mandatory DNA test. So, get ready for a long ride dude because you can't get out of this one. Maybe next time you will think before you have sex. If there is a possibility that this child may not be yours then I would get a DNA test to prove that and you are cleared of everything if the child is not yours, but if it is you have to either pay child supprt or go to jail. My daughter's father has not paid child support to me in three years and it is pretty crappy because I didn't get pregnant on my own! Think about where the mother is coming from. I am sure she is scared too.

This is absolutely incorrect legal advice - perhaps it's something to say if you want to scare someone but it is absolutely not true.
