I have trouble getting a nice blue flame from my monitor since new. It is vented about 10 feet from outside wall. It only burns dull yellow, and soots up really bad. I know I have a combustion air problem, but I don't know if it's the 10 foot length to get there. I suspect it is. I take it to the qualified tech, and it runs fine for him in the shop. Probably because he's only at most 2 feet from outside air. He did not know that would be a problem, but he's never had a complaint for another one.

I experimented with compressed air, I blew into the intake pipe and the flame cleared up nice and blue like it supposed to. My question is if I can take a small fan, like a computer fan, install it in the duct, and see if that will give me enough extra CFM to clear the flame. If it does work, how does a fellow wire the fan in to make it automatic when it's needed. I'm sure it'll work if I can get enough air in the combustion space.

Has anyone ever had these issues with a monitor heater. Service person is no help. Thanks for anyone who can help.

Not recommended. The install of your unit needs to be checked by a professional. This is nothing to play with.

Thanks for the response, but it has been to the professional 3 times and the professional has been to it too many times to count. I think the manufacturer should not advert that they work with this length of piping, although they sell it. Some more R&D on their part is in order.
