My furnace won't come on when I turn on the thermostat

1st check for power,at the breaker,is it on? Tell us more of what you have,, elect. Gas, oil
Furnace. Do you have central air? Does the blower work? Do you have gas turned on? Do you have oil in the tank? Oh so much more info would help,,
