Is there any help for custodial parents to collect child support while the non custodial parent is incarcerated for an extended period?

Since they are earning no income, I don't see how they can pay anything.

Right, but is there any agencies to your knowledge that would help financially? I have child support established and it is a substantial amount, but then the non custodial parent ended up in prison for 3 years... do I have to wait it out or is there anyone who can help me?

There are social services that can help if you are below certain income levels. But nothing is going to pay his child support for him.

Do you qualify for government assitance? If so then you may be able to get food stamps until he is out. There are actually more cases than not that his support will actually be lowered to the minimum amount due while he is in prison then when he gets out and gets a job will go back up according to what he makes.
