I am an international student who is planning to buy a house in US for long time studying. But would that do harm to my F1 visa? Coz that may suggest that I have some immigration intent. Especially considering I would be back home almost every year, and I need to renew the visa every time before I fly back to U.S. Can th visa officer know I have mortgage in USA, as I have the mortgage with my SSN? And would that influence my visa renewal? What can I do to minimize the harm? Thank you for answering this for me!

How can you get mortgage if you don't have good credit scores? If you do have good credit scores and you are F-1 holder, this may jeopardize your status. They will dig into your income reported, etc. and it won't be good if you're found working without EAD.
Foreigners can buy and own property in US, but in your case, the buyer should be your parents, not you.

Thank you very much for your answer! I am F-1 student with research job in university as well, hence I can get the mortgage using my SSN. If the buyer is my father (foreigner), can we still have mortgage? Since I dunt have enough cash at the moment.

It's up to the lender whether they consider you/him qualified or not, this is in case your lender is in US...

Ya, I see... Then if I can pay the money without loan, the owner of the property should be my parent(s), not me. And that should be safe for my F1 visa status, am I correct?

You're correct. This is a good time... too many to choose from.

Hi, sorry to post again. I am just unsure, if my mother is the buyer, so she will use her passport in the tile right? Will that be known by the embassy visa officer if she wants to have a travel visa to U.S approved in the future?

She has to use her passport as an ID... no problem with obtaining visa in the future.
