My laptop is in my bedroom most of the time and it is on for the whole day. How should I charge it? Should I wait till the battery runs out? Should I leave the charger in all the time? Should I take the battery out, leave the charger in and run it off the mains? Thanks.

Take the battery out until you need it. It will last longer

Hi, if I take the battery out and leave the charger plugged in does it run like that though?

Yes it will run without the battery as long as its plugged into the wall

But won't the charger be something like 12V and would'nt it need to be mains?

You're a hard one to convince, aren't you?

Using a laptop like a desktop (plugged in all the time) will destroy the life of the battery. If you're going to leave it plugged in most of the time, charge the battery and remove it.

That's the answer.

=============
When you DO use the laptop like a laptop, mobile and not plugged in, set your power options to warn you when it hits 15% with a popup warning. Letting it get low like that is GOOD for the battery.

And every now and then you want to DEEP discharge it all the way to dead. Both of these maintenance ideas will lengthen the life of the battery.

Lol JBeau! Hello again, thanks for your answer. Can I just use the normal charger to run the laptop then without the battery?

That's not a "charger", that's a power cord and adapter. The "charger" is inside the laptop.

Yes, you can use your power cord and adapter without the battery.

Can't wait to hear the next version of the same question... hehe.

Also, you can use the laptop without the battery installed as long as the power cord and adapter are attached.
