View Full Version : Using "Old" VCRs after February 2009

This weekend I bought a new DVD/VCR (Sony) and was shocked when I got it home that it did not have a tuner. After reading on this site that that is now the norm, I decided to keep it and try to reconfigure my TV set up to accommodate this VCR.

What I'm now concerned about is: After we go digital in February, will my old VCRs work? They are hooked up to cable, but not digital cable, and those TVs have no cable boxes. I have seen some info that appears to say that analog VCRs will no longer work, and since I have no cable boxes on those TVs that would enable me to use the new tunerless VCRs, I'm wondering what I would have to do.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

If you are hooked to cable, don't worry. The only thing affected by the Feb 2009 cutover is over-the-air broadcast signals. Your cable company will still provide analog signals on their cable. Refer to this link (http://dtv.gov/consumercorner.html#faq25) for more info.

Hope this helps,
