Hello:
What happens when the government is run by a political party committed to the belief that government is always the problem, never the solution?

Conservatives believe that there is a role for government.
The role of government should be LIMITED.As a libertairian you should appreciate the distinction. If you say the Republicans have not always acted like conservatives I'd have to agree with you .However ; their fault is siding with the other party in expanding government .

Maybe if the Libertarian Party could just get past the issue of legalizing pot, it might get some traction. That is the impression that attaches itself to the Libertarian Party. Maybe it's wrong, but there it is.

Hello Gal:
You're not wrong. The drug war is an anathema to the America our founding fathers had in mind. It's central to what Libertarianism is all about. Without it, they might as well just stay Republican.
You know, of course, the Libertarians are right.

It is not just the party in power. The Dems are running an outsider who claims that Washington is a failure and the government does not represent them ;and the Repubs. Just fell in love with an outsider who's message is clearly a rebut to the failures of the government. The 3rd parties of course have always had that message but their appeal is usually single issue.
Ron Paul the leading voice of the libertarians this week told them that although he gave a blessing to their movement he still thinks the best thing for him is to work within the framework of the 2 party system.
