Hi There!

I am taking over my sister and brother in law's house while they are out of the country for two years. They warned us about the water pressure but I thought they were exaggerating. Turns out they weren't! They use well water and there is no pressure at all! The shower is barely above a trickle and you can't use the sink if you're using the washing machine.. you get the point! I don't know what to do because I don't see a physical well (I may be a little naïve and I'm looking for a wishing well type well) How can I fix this problem, can I do it myself and how much will it cost me approximately? PLEASE HELP THIS PROBLEM IS DRIVING ME NUTS!

A little information first. How old is the house? What material are the pipes? Copper, Plastic or galvanized? What does the gage read at the pump when the pump's up to pressure and shut off? Back to you, Tom

First step is to find the well/pump. It is generally in a pump house (outside) or basement. You should be able to follow either pipes or the electrical feed to the switch. Hopefully, you will be able to adjust the pressure switch and get your pressure up. As SB said, you will want to check the gauge and see what pressure you have at the pressure tank. That is, once you actually find it.
