After 2 yrs of trying to conceive I recently started seeing a specialist. My periods have always been irregular. As a young girl I never had regular period and was always very active and involved in all sports. In college I played two sports and for the longest time I remember not getting my period and then once in a while getting it. I'm still very active but not like I was in college. I was told I needed to stop training(running and lifting weights) and gain body fat. I have done that and my periods started being more regular. I went in for blood work to check my levels and they came back normal but low normal. The doctor told me even though I got my period I didn't ovulate. I went in for an U/S and my ovaries look good and I had a bunch of follicles. The nurse then told me that my lining is thick and they prescribed Provera. I'm on my 3rd day of the Provera and then I'm suppose to start Clomid once I get my cycle on days 5-9. I'm suppose to go in for an X-ray on days 8-12 of my cycle to see if my tubes are blocked. My question is if I'm taking the Provera and the Clomid can I start workingout and running again. I'm so frustrated and it has been so hard not to have an outlet. I feel like I'm going crazy. Also if I take the Provera and the Clomid as directed and they find that my tubes are blocked on day 8-12 when I have the x-ray what will happen? Does that defeat the purpose of the provera and the clomid? I'm so confused about everything. I wanted to have the x-ray now but they said that I couldn't only between days 8-12 of my cycle---why is this--Thanks you for taking the time to read and listen. I appreciate any and all information you can give.

Hi Becky,

When they do the x-ray, they are doing what is called a HSG test (in most cases anyway)... dye will be put through to get a good picture of the fallopian tubes. Depending on what they may find, there are various procedures that can result to take care of an issue if there is one found. It is not a comfortable procedure for many women (they will give you some meds to help you relax) but relatively quick. They would want to do the x-ray after a period so they know you are not pregnant, but before possible ovulation. You can expect some bleeding and discharge for a few days afterwards.

Yes, you can workout while on Clomid and Provera... but you won't be able to for a short while after the HSG test.
