Understandably, I'd like to stop my 8 year old, male, neutered cat from urinating on my beds. He has been with us for six months without any urinating outside of the cat box, but over the last two weeks he has performed on three occasions. There hasn't been a change to the routine in the house. Any answers and suggestions to stop this behaviour would be appreciated.

All I can't suggest is a trip to the vet cats get careless when there is something wrong this may well be a cry for help.

First and foremost the number 1 reason why a cat stops using the litterbox is a UTI or Urinary Tract Infection. So a vet vist should be first on your list.
Second, behavior in cats can sometimes be difficult and the longer you wait, the longer the behavior sets in and becomes the norm.

You say no changes in the house but what about outside. Your cat can smell other cats outside if they are spraying.

Has your son gone to someone's house to play that has animals? Does the cat like your son?

Was the cat declawed? This can cause non-litter box use, even years after the fact.

I would keep a journal of things you notice and maybe you might find a pattern to help solve the issue. Since you haven't had the cat for very long and are trying to fix the situation you should have a better chance than most.

Not to scare you, but UTIs can kill male cats if the opening for the urine gets blocked. So I would definitely start with a trip to the vet to rule that out before tackling the behavioral angles.
