I am about to turn 43 and recently became disabled.I am now collecting workers comp and social security.I am no longer able to contribute to my 401k because I am no longer employed but would like to keep investing. Can I roll my 401k into an IRA or do I have to be employed to contribute to an IRA ? I also have some other money in my savings that I would like to bundle with it.Any advice ?

Hi, Chief,
I am not a Professional in this area, but one who still has some of my own 401k monies left, in the account, after retiring.
I can't make any contributions into my 401k, now that I no longer work for the company. The company turned over all those accounts to us, with them still being the Plan Administrator.
I suggest calling your company's Plan Administrator to see where you stand with this, specifically.
They will tell you whether you can roll it over, or give you the advice you need. Best of luck.
