HI, I have a brand new house, with the pipes ready to install a toilet in the basement.

I was looking for a dual flush one at costco, but a friend told me that I need a special toilet in the basement, because the regulars have not enough water capacity to flush properly.

Any advise?

Thanks!

Not true unless your sewer line is above the basement floor. Do you know where the main drain pipe exits the home, through a basement wall or into the floor. The Costco stuff is usually fine and if you don't like it they take it back, even if used.

My sewer line is inside/below the concrete floor.

I think that the main drain exit through the floor, but I am not positive about that.
Can be through the basement wall? If so, I think that it should have a pump for the toilet.

BTW, it is not nice to return a used toilet!!

If the pipe is already installed in the floor you do not need a pump or what's called a maserating toilet. Some sewer lines in some homes do exit through the basement wall, this is due to the homes elevation compared to the city sewer line. Yours sounds like its all set for a standard toilet installation. Double check by opening that floor drain and dumping a bucket of water down the drain.

Don't worry one bit about Costco, they even take back half eaten or even fully eaten food. Their choice was to make a 100% customer satisfaction guarrantee. The only recent exception is with electronics, 90 days and after that they help with reairs.

Don't try their Lyodds pot roast, everything else they sell is great.
