Connect the laptop to an external monitor or projector.

And what does an external monitor do? So I can have 2 screens?

External monitor may be a second monitor, or it may be your primary one. Some people work on a laptop at home at a desk, and prefer the comfort and familiarity of a mouse, keyboard and full size monitor. You can plug these devices in, close the lid on your laptop and set it under the desk, and forget you're working on a laptop at all.

Some laptops have a "docking station" they can slide the laptop into that gives instant access to these desk peripherals, but connecting them yourself, manually, still works just fine, and is much cheaper.

When you go on a trip, grab the laptop, disconnect the peripherals and hit the road. No "syncing" with a desktop computer required.
