It was a learning show, on public TV I believe, that consisted of several regular characters. They used to sit around the "town square", counting, doing letters and stuff. I was pretty young, but I do remember some of it, I just loved it! I did like Strawberry Shortcake too!! :D

Hi, I know my response is late, but I just wanted to add my small bit of memory to this. It used to be one of my most favourite shows growing up. There used to be this mime-type person that would 'freeze' in place if his hat was removed. This happened in quite a few episodes, and the other people had to find his hat or he would stay frozen forever. Think how mimes are good at freezing themselves and I am sure you can get the idea. There was also this computer that had the ability to look over the square, I remember an episode where something was spilled on it, and they used a toothbrush to clean it up... sadly this is all I remember. I hope this helps other people stir their memories.

I'm trying to find information about Strawberry Square online with little luck but ran across this site and thought I would give an answer. I used this in my teaching back in the 80's with my K-1 kids (I teach music) and in fact I still use it today with my teaching though rarely. I have all the episodes from their first season on VHS and need to transfer to DVD. I taped each segment from TV back then. There was even a lesson plan book that I had though lost it years ago.:) Each episode is about 15 minutes and deals with many elements of music. I enjoyed the show very much and the kids of today enjoy it too. There's Skipper, Mr. Jingles and Jan. If anyone has any idea how I could possibly get a commercial copy of these shows I'd love it but I seriously doubt it. I also believe there is a Strawberry Square II with the same characters though I know nothing about that season. Someone could enlighten me though?:D

Well, I recently was searching online about this show as a lark and I stumbled upon this question here. I was in the second "season" of Strawberry Square (Strawberry Square II) as the daughter of the Japanese family that arrived to rune some repair shop. They originally wanted three generations of a Japanese family to play this part, but in Lincoln, NE at the time there weren't that many Japanese families they could choose from. I happened to know the child actress who played "Shannon" and somehow I came to work for the Nebraska Educational TV network that produced this show. My real mother was also part of it playing my mother on the show. We sang, danced and "acted" through pretty basic storylines trying to elaborate on the themes of art appreciation, friendship, etc. I remember some pretty long shooting days after school that would run into the early am hours. I was 12 at the time and thought it was so cool that I was "working". Now that my mother is gone it is very nostalgic for me to think back on this program. I have my season on VHS, but not the first season which I didn't participate in. I do not think that there is a commercial copy available for this, although I saw a listing on an educational listing for instructional materials that were published to go along with them. Hope this answers your question!

I remember the show "Strawberry Square" from the 80's. I used to watch it during class in elementary school (2nd grade, I think:) as a means of learning. Jingle, Skipper and Jan were the main characters in the show, and I remember the theme song well!
