The fan on my A/C unit stopped working. Sometimes it will start and run for a few minutes and then stop another time it just doesn't start, it tries to start but doesn't seem to have enough torque to start, even if I turn it it still doesn't continue but it tries.

I purchased a replacement motor and capacitor today from Grainger and now I have a question. The old GE Capacitor 97F9839 had three wires attached to it, a yellow on the C terminal a blue on the HERM and the brown from the fan motor on the fan terminal.

The new capacitor for the Dayton motor has two terminals, one for the brown fan motor wire and one for the brown/white fan motor wire.

What do I do with the old capacitor and the blue & yellow wires that were attached to it?

The new capactor should be for the new fan motor only,, with a brown and br/white strip wire going to each post of the Cap., leave the other capicter installed to be used by the compressor

Leave the HERM wires connected. You just replaced the fan capacitor. The other part of the dual capacitor is for the compressor operation.
