Does anyone have the procedure for replacing the blower in a GMP-75 furnace? The only access is the front of the unit and it looks next to impossible to get the securing screws out. I'm wondering if there is a written procedure for doing this.

Not a written procedure.

Remove the 2 screws that hold the blower housing in. Then disconnect the wiring (it is usually a plug connection if it is the original motor or disconnect wires remembering where the went). Using standard mechanical skills slide the blower out of the unit (yep it can be a bit heavy).

Next disassemble the blower. Loosen set screw or allen socket on the blower wheel then place on side and take out the 3 bolts that holds the motor on to the side of the blower housing. The next part can be a pain. You have to pull the motor shaft assemble out of the blower wheel and this will probably be the hardest part. If necessary clean dirt off shaft and spray wd-40 or similar lubricant on those parts. Keep working it will come out.

When this is all done clean the blower housing and wheel. 409 is good for this operation. Be careful the wheel has balancing clips on it so you do not want to disturb those. Re assemble.

Purchase like same motor voltage and horse power and also get a NEW capacitor to replace the old one. Never use the old capacitor and make sure the new capacitor matches what the motor manufacture call for. (yep there is a wiring diagram on the side of all motors with a bunch of goods info for you)

Replace the motor in the bracket and make sure the rubber isolation grommets are still good (if not replace them or just buy a new bracket)

Hook it all back up and you are done.

NOTE: you might have to change the direction of the motor so it blows correctly.

The motor wiring could be a bit different.

THIS is why you need to review the instructions on the motor before assembly in the blower.
