Hello INFO Genius!

I have a paid judgment on my credit report on a time barred credit card acct and it was won by default because I wasn't able to make it to 3rd courtdaate. How do I get it off my credit reports forever.

You can't the judgement was valid. It should purge off after 7 years.

When we are negotiating payment of a judgment on behalf of a client we often seek and obtain an agreement with the creditor to have the judgment set aside (or vacated depending upon the terminology of your jurisdiction) after payment is made in full and for the claim to be withdrawn and/or dismissed.

Since you have already made payment you may no longer have any leverage in negotiating such an arrangement and, as ScottGem has stated, you may now have to wait seven years for any reference to the judgment to disappear.

Hello Ms:

Pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, ordinary bad credit stays on your credit report for 7 years. Judgments stay on for 10.

You have the right to challenge any entry on your credit report if it's inaccurate. I'm sure you can find something inaccurate regarding the judgment. Challenge it, and it MAY come off.

I sent a letter stating that I was being sued for a memebership that was not mine but a family memebers. I settled the debt with a law office who took the case over from the initial company who was suing because the filed for bankratcy and it was paid before the court date.
