Help: My friend is trying to arrange documents in order to take her daughter to Portugal.
She has an appt in the embassy for October but needs to travel urgently to Portugal. She has paid to have the certificates "apostile" and still can't travel.
Can anyone help?

Hello Suziewoo
Sorry, but your question is not very clear ! Please provide clear answers to the following :
My friend is trying to arrange documents in order to take her daughter to Portugal.
What papers? She only has to get her daughter's name entered into her passport.
She has an appt in the embassy for October
Why is that ? What has that to do with the question ? What embassy where ? Where is she now? Where was her daughter born ? Where was she born ? What are the nationalities involved?
She has paid to have the certificates "apostile"
Why ? What certificates ?
... and still can't travel.
Why ?
If there is no daughter yet because your friend is still pregnant, has she considered that after month 7 no airliner will take her as traveller in view of the possible on-board problems of sudden complications and/or premature birth ?
Where is she now ? When does she want to travel ?
With pleasure I'll try to answer here, but I'm not sure what are the facts...
So please provide these answers hre, and let me know by private mail (just click my name, and follow instructions). I will return here to advice.
:)

Hi,
OK... my friend gave birth to a little girl in January 08 - (both parents are portuguese) but the baby is (british). When they applied for a british passport they were denied!
So the only way of them travelling with the baby would be to get a portuguese passport from the Portuguese embassy in London. When we called them to arrange an appt the next available appt is for October... but they need to travel urgently family reasons.
Therefore they got told to make an appt at the common wealth office to get the birth certificate and the registered certificate certified and to get an apostille stamp. They did all that but still can't get an earlier appt or travel with the baby (the passport control people at the airport will only allow the baby through if they have a photo documentation).
Hope this makes more sense and thanks for you help - but still waiting to hear back from the embassy.l
