I have rented a suite in a private townhome from an older woman who lives in the bottom level for 2 years and 3 months. She recently informed me that she decided to hire a maid to clean the common areas - kitchen, dining and living rooms. However, I am not permitted to use the living room or dining room on the main level, so I'm not really sure how that can be called a "common area". I do use the kitchen with her and another renter. She also told me that the maid service would add to my rent (of course). I asked her if there was any other solution, like having a cleaning assignment sheet and taking turns with different chores. She was opposed and said her decision was final. I personally don't want to live somewhere if I'm going to be dictated to, so I told her I would be looking for alternative living arrangements, which I did right away.
I gave her my written notice to vacate and gave her 40 days total (10 days in August plus the full month of September per our rental agreement). Today she wrote me a note asking me to consolidate my laundry time for the remainder of the time I live there so I can get it done quickly, however I'm only allowed to do laundry on Saturday's and I'm also not allowed to go down to the washer/dryer which is at the bottom of the stairs going into her living space, too early in the morning. For 2 years, I have been very conscientious of this and don't start my laundry until after 11am and try to get it done as quickly as possible, but occasionally need to interrupt my laundry day to get a haircut or run an errand that cannot wait. I think it's getting a little ridiculous that not only does she mandate I do laundry only on Saturdays, but now that I have to do it between certain hours of the day.
Is she being unfair or am I overreacting?

I wouldn't say she is being unfair. But I would say she is being picky. But since you are moving what's the big deal?
