Hi - we are moving and will likely have to have our fridge in a storage unit for ~9 months. Is there anything we can do to help it survive the move? Any preparation that we need to do? It's a climate controlled unit, but still that's a long time to not be functional. Thanks!

In general it should be fine, however I might do the following:
1. Clean inside thouroghly and make sure it's dry. Place a container of baking soda to absorb odors.
2. Inspect for any rusted areas. Paint if on coils.
3. Put film of oil (WD-40) is OK on exposed metal parts on the EXTERIOR (compressor, coils etc).
4. Put a little vaseline on the plug connections and seal in a bag.
5. Let warm to room temperature or nearby before starting. With climate control, you should be OK.

I like to add to KISS's instructions.
Leave the door cracked open. Place something soft between the door and the frame and then duck tape it close, leaving about a two inch crack. Mold and mildew.
