Hi I have a Maytag Amana Refrigerator Model no:XRSS287BB. The problem is that the fridge keeps freezing. The freezer works fine but the fridge gets too cold at -12.Ice builds up on the shelves etc. Any help would be really appreciated. I am an appliance repairer but this one being electronic is eluding me. I am thinking it might be the thermistor or the board or both but I could be wrong. Please help.

Probably the motherboard went bad and needs replaced. Have you adjusted the temp in the fridge down as far as it will go to warm setting and it still freezes?

Thank you very much twinkiedooter for your prompt response. Yes I have tried adjusting its temperature right down to warm still gets to - 12. Is the board a guess or have you had experience with this model? I just need to be sure as the cheapest price for the board so far is approx $600 Australian. I have ordered a thermistor and I am hoping it is the problem as it is less then $100. Otherwise it probably is the board which I will just have to try to repair it rather then replace it.Please feel free to help me out some more or if there is anyone else who knows something.

Try the cheaper part first like you plan. Don't you have some sort of repair manual for this machine?
