Hello,

I don't know if you can help me, I need advice.

I live in a apartment complex that has their own maintenance men.

I recently had a problem with my air conditioner not cooling properly and ran constantly. It was cooling but not enough so I called the office and they sent someone to check it out. He said the unit probably needed freon.

The next day it was still doing the same thing. I could not seem to get through to the man that yes it was cooling but not properly and would not shut off.

He added more freon and then came in and did something to the thermostat.

Now it reads 65 deg. In here - and it's not.

I know that he made an adjustment to the thermostat but I don't have a clue what he did to make it register that temperature.

Thermostat is a White and Rodgers.

Can you tell me what he did so that when I call the office again I at least sound like I know what I'm talking about?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Linda Haba

He probably adjusted the thermostat to read cooler to fool you into thinking it actually was.

Good luck.

You will end up with a huge electric bill if the a/c is not properly fixed. The repair guy obviously turned the thermostat setting down like HVAC said to fool you. You need to get a regular mercury thermometer and place on the wall alongside the thermostat to show you what the real temp in the apt is. Keep calling the management office about this as the repair person obviously did not do their job. If possible have the management office person come and see your mercury thermometer alongside the "adjusted with" thermostat to prove your point. Can you afford a sky high electric bill due to their failure to do their job? No.
