I live in NJ. Had an HVAC specialist come out. Looking to do the following:

1) Replace old & Install new Trane XR13, 4TTR3-30, 13 SEER 2.5 ton unit
2) Replace old & Install new Trane 4TEC3F-30, 25.5 air handler
3) Increase duct work in Family room from 6" to 8".
4) Run a new supply and return to front of house of existing unit
5) New thermostat

10 Yr. compressor, 5 year parts, 1 year labor (warranty) for a total of $6,638. Will even increase from 2.5 ton to 3 ton unit . Is this a fair price. How much would a new unit and air handler cost? Duct work is about 40 feet runs (avg) 4 of them .

Is this a fair price?? Extended 10/10/10 year warranty is like $750 (which I believe is too expensive).

For $1,400 more, will add a variable speed motor in the air handler. I have a separate heating system (completely separate).

PLEASE ADVISE.

OK if you think its to expensive,, don`t buy it

why do you feel you need a variable speed motor? I don`t think its worth it myself
