Without hiring someone, how can I tell which type of grass I have? Is there a website with pictures of different kinds? Also, is rolling your lawn still needed and if so, how soon, if at all, should I areate? Thanks:D

Yes, there's lots of good sites with grass types; where do you live?
I don't know anyone who rolls anymore, but aeration is definitely a part of a good maintenance program. Once every other year is fine for most grass/soil types, but for heavy clay soil, aeration 1-2 times a year is recommended.

Here's a list, with pic links, of the most common grasses of Ohio. Chances are you've either got Kentucky Bluegrass or a mix of it and Ryegrass or Fescue:

The grass in my yard in west TX shoots up stems with 4 seed things on it that stick out kind of like a bird foot. Do you know what it is? It also runs along the ground. It is hard to kill. Is it a weed or real lawn grass?
