I am looking at a two family house to purchase and move myself into half and my daughter her husband and child into the other half. There are tenants in there now and their lease expires in May and June of next year. The listing says the sale is subject to tenants rights. In Connecticut where I used to live you can evict the tenants to move yourself or a blood relative into the apartment. Is this so in Kansas as well?

I believe that if you purchased this property you would have to honor the existing leases. There's a link at the top of this forum to each state's LL / tenant laws.

Have you spoken to the current tenants? Perhaps they'd be willing to be bought out of their leases. Maybe the realtor could help with that.

I couldn't / wouldn't in good conscience buy something with the intent of breaking someone's valid lease - even if some obsure provision in the law allowed me to do it. That's... well, MEAN is the only word that comes to mind.
