I bought a low voltage thermostat to work with my electric baseboard heat. It is a low voltage system with two transformers that I can see in my crawlspace. Is low voltage the same as millivolt or do I need to make sure which I have and which the tstat works with? I've got two wires coming to where my old slider control box was hooked up. Black and white in a brown sheath. 120 volt heaters. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

A low voltage thermostat will work for either low volts, usually 24 volt control system, or a millivolt system, which is never used for electric heat.

A millivolt rated stat will only work for a millivolt system.

Not srue what you mean by a slider control box, and how the two wires, black and white are related to the slider box.

Really can use more detail as to what you have.

The temperature was controlled by a box (thermostat) with a slider to point to a temp as opposed to say a dial. The box does not have a name either. The two wires... black and white... attach to the tstat such would the red, green, blue, yellow black, white... etc etc when you hook up any other tstat such as for gas heat. I can only assume this tstat controls a relay which controls the heaters. Why the new thermostat I have does not work I have no idea.

Yes the control you have may be a thermostat, but with two wires for electric heat, it surely is operating a relay that switches the heating circuit.

Any stat you install should only need the red or R terminal, and the white or W terminal.
