I have an old GE Dryer there is power in the outlet and power where the chord connects to the machine I tested the wires on the timer and they have power however when I turn the timer to on and test the same wires there is no power. What does this mean? Bad Timer Switch?

Hello zach23
"I tested the wires on the timer and they have power"
Which means that so far there is (some) power.
"however when I turn the timer to on and test the same wires there is no power".
Which means that there is no "hard" power on the wires.
Take a table lamp with a 60 or 100 light bulb in it.
Check the wall socket if the bulb lights up.
If not, the problem is either in the wall socket, wires to the switch board, one of the fuses, or the switch board itself.
If yes, check the contacts at the timer if the bulb lights up.
If not, the problem is in the cabling between the wall socket and the timer.
If yes, the problem is in or beyond the timer switch.
Many dryers have several safety and thermal switches. Check each one of them if open or closed.
If with these tips you can't get the machine working, please post the results of your research as indicated above here, and contact me, so that I can post additional suggestions...
Succes !

When I tried the bulb test my bulb lit up then sparks flew and the bulb blew but my breaker didn't trip, is that good news or bad news? I tried it again where the connections go into the back of the machine with the same result.

Ok now I tested it at the timer switch with a new bulb but it didn't light up. I'm Looking for the Thermal Fuse but cannot find it any ideas on where to look
