I have a ring that I found that has three markings inside. The first is DTH, then 14K, then H?? The third marking has three characters, but I can't tell what the second two are. It kind of looks like H88 or HSS maybe, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know what these markings mean? Thank you.

According to the information on the following site, Gold Jewelry - How to Buy Gold Jewelry (http://jewelry.about.com/od/jewelrymetals/a/gold_jewelry.htm)
The 14K is an indication that the gold contained in the ring is 14 parts gold and 10 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 58.3% gold.
What I also gleaned from that site is that your ring is probably made in the U.S. because of the way that the markings are. The karat (L) marking on your ring should be accompanied by a hallmark or trademark that identifies its maker.
I'm guessing that the DTH is probably the initials of the original owner.
