The switch to my evaporative cooler quit working and I purchased a different type switch. Same functions, different type. Theswamp cooler motor has quit working because I apparently wired the switch wrong. I'm going to buy a new motor but need help with wiring the motor to the switch. The switch has the following settings: Off, Pump Only, Low Cool without pump, High Cool without pump, Low Cool with pump, High Cool with pump. I did find a schematic for the switch but it's the motor that has me stumped. I do not want to buy another motor.
Thank you for your help! :)

You will want to use a Multimeter to figure out which of the wires is 'Hot', or always on, then you will have the other three wires - Pump; low cool and high cool, the white goes to the neutral.
This is a great resource, with diagrams, for different Evaporative Coolers (http://www.perfect-home-hvac-design.com/swamp-cooler-wiring.html).

Useless info - only 3 wires coming out of the ½ hp 2 spped motor - NOT 4

red = high speed
black= slow speed
white = neutral
green = ground unless you have metal conduit
blue/orange pump
you should have 5 wires going from control switach to the cooler 4 if the conduit is metal.
in the cooler you separate these wire where red black and white goes to the motor and blue/orange and white goes to the pump and don't forget the green to tie it to the frame. Some manufacturers have a hrness that does that for you.

Cistor's post is the only thing useless. Guess he doesn't know that the fourth wire is the motor's ground which is via the motor housing.
