Have you gone to the local Health Department about getting free prenatal care and free child birth care?

Depends on who you see... OB or midwife, where you decide to give birth... home (which just recently became legal in Missouri), birth center, or hospital, and whether there are any tests that you may need, any complications, etc.. Rough starting point would be several thousand dollars... it would go up or down from there depending on your choices and situation.
Medicaid offers insurance for women in pregnancy, and you may want to check with your state insurance office or health department for other possible programs as well.

Go to the local welfare office in your town and they will provide you with Medicaid or the government funded health insurance. You need to take proof of your pregnancy. You can also go to the local WIC office and get milk and stuff for free if you are low income. After the child is born it should be covered by the government funded insurance. I was on Medical in California throughout my pregnancy and my cousin was on Medicaid in Alabama during her pregnancy and it covered all prenatal care. So go check on that.

Everyone is correct here. Your friend needs to go to the local health department for her physical, then go to the social services office to apply for medicaid. WIC is also important, as has been mentioned.

Also know, that when it comes time for delivery, she has to be accepted at any hospital she goes to, they cannot turn her down for inability to pay.

She needs to also have ongoing prenatal care at a clinic. Very important.
