What are the odds that Clinton will emerge from Denver as the Dem candidate? Obama's sun seems to be slowly sinking in the West. Might the delegates see him as the greater liability? Maybe someone will create a pool-----, uh, no, online betting is probably illegal.

Won't happen... Obama will be the dem canidate. I seriously think the only way he can with though is if he chose clinton to run with. I myself... for the first time ever.. will not vote for EITHER Dem or Rep but instead vote Green/Independent. Just my way to say I'm sick of the same crap.
We need major change... and u know what? Its not going to happen with either of the main 2 parties in the white house. All they ever do is promise promise promise.. and rarely deliver on anything. Bs.. sick of it.
Just my 2 cents :)

I'm looking forward for Obama to select Biden so I can point out all the times Biden said Obama wasn't experienced enough during the endless Dem debates .
It is said Evita will vote for Obama during roll-call. I'll believe it when I see it. She has already won by having the 3 Clintoons making speeches during the convention and a video tribute to the First Philanderer for God's sake!

She is not going to vote for Obama!! Ed Rendell (PA Gov) already said he is voting for Clinton which makes sense since he supported her through the entire primary. I will be surprised if Obama comes out of the convention with the nomination!!
Those Clinton's are slippery and I don't trust them as far as I can throw them and I have a bad shoulder! If that happens Need Karma needs to let me know how the housing market is in the great white north cause I will be moving there!!

I'll say this... Obama has fairly won the nomination, but for all the issues (if people agree with his political views or not), if he doesn't come out of the Democrat's convention with that nomination, we all wake up to a new America, and it won't be pretty. For the Clinton's sake they better hope he becomes president.
PS. In the veep sweepstakes, Biden would be a good choice, if Obama chooses him and he accepts. Biden would therefore bring that experience to the administration that Obama has been criticized for in the past. McCain on the other hand stands a fifty-fifty chance of choosing the wrong veep and losing more Pub base.

Yeah he toyed with screwing the base again but I think he reconsidered after the negative reaction he got. My best guess is that he picks Minnesota's Governor Tim Pawlenty but I would like to see him take a chance and pick Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

A new name is emerging into the front runner ranks as McCain's VP pick... Ohio's Rob Portman .
He is a former member of Congress as well as OMB director and US Trade Representative. He has solid conservative credentials and would bring with him a great understanding of the economy. He was on the short list of candidates for Treasury Sec. before President Bush selected Paulson for the position. Portman lives close to Dayton, Ohio where McCain is expected to announce his choice next Friday.
Also the speaking slots for the Republican convention have been announced and all the other names mentioned already have scheduled speeches.
Republican National Convention 2008 - September 1-4, 2008 (http://www.gopconvention2008.com/news/Read.aspx?ID=580)

There's another interesting name thrown in the mix (http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/08/22/democrat-veep-flavor-of-the-hour-texas-rep-chet-edwards/) now...
Texas Democratic Rep. Chet Edwards is the latest name to emerge as a short-lister getting buzz to be chosen as Barack Obama’s running mate...
Edwards, a nine-term congressman from Corpus Christi who serves on the House Appropriations and Budget committees, is a favorite of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who went on ABC’s “This Week” and said, “I hope he will be the nominee.”

I just talked to my girlfriend who is still a Hillary supporter and undecided on Obama and asked her if this would make her vote for McCain. My girlfriend said "She is no Hillary and the average person has no idea who she is. And it is insulting that he would think I would vote for him because he threw some women on the ticket."

Apparently they didn't need his vote (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/24/washington/24cong.html?ref=us). Look, this bill wasn't about voting for equal pay, anti-discrimination laws are a done deal. It was about inserting an open-ended time frame for filing a discrimination claim.

Personally, I just think his choice scares libs to death - this was a home run pick. As for Cindy McCain, she left he campaign trail to go to a war zone in Georgia while the Michelle presided over her hubby's coronation. People are going to like her, too which is a truth that's going to hurt. Whatever danger you've imagined is just that, the musings of a desperate mind.

If he picks up some Evita voters that's gravy. The fact that his base loves the pick gives him cover to fight Obama for the middle.

Let's see, he dissed Hillary by not even vetting her, they attack Palin they attack women, she's a union member, fights special interests, she's young, beautiful, tough, a Washington outsider as opposed to Obama's proposed 'change' in selecting Biden - and the conservative base now has reason to smile and get behind McCain. Republican's for Obama? That's history.

I saw on CNN that the reaction is not favorable for John McCain's pick. It's already having a backlash among the far majority of the once ardent Hillary Democrats and even some moderate Republican women. Apparently John McCain has insulted all women across America with his last minute desperate measure to expose his skirt VP selection.

The Palin pick is certainly not favorable to most of the media, the Obama campaign (who can't even bring themselves to call her Governor), Democratic Underground, Huffpo... but I haven't heard any complaints from the other side (http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NWIyZDUxOGE5MGQxNWI5ZDhkYmQ2OTU0N2M2ZTI5NzA=).
By picking Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, John McCain has wowed the public and enthused the Right. He has reinforced some of his winning themes — that he has the mindset of an outsider and a fighter against corruption. He has also reinforced his appeal as the candidate more in touch with traditional values on moral issues.
McCain did wow us with this pick and the base is on fire again. I can't wait to see Sarah the Barracuda dig her teeth into her opponents.

Sarah the Barracuda? Bwa ha ha ha! Although McCain is old (and unfortunately at risk for melanoma cancer), his body abnormal from the healing of broken bones, and his thinking I'd describe as archaic, shaky, risky, and sometime borderline senile, however I'll give McCain credit for one thing... HIS EYESIGHT IS EXCELLENT! :)
Unfortunately though this is not a beauty pageant. John McCain only met her once! It's further proof that the man is unstable. What an embarrassment to the Republican party. John McCain went all the way to Alaska to find Dan Quayle in a skirt.

Oh how shallow you guys obviously think she is...
At 44, Sarah Louise Heath Palin is both the youngest and the first female governor in Alaska's relatively brief history as a state. She's also the most popular governor in America (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/06/the_vp_case_for_gov_sarah_pali.html), with an approval rating that has bounced around 90 percent.
This is due partly to her personal qualities. When she was leading her underdog Wasilla high school basketball team to the state championship in 1982, her teammates called her "Sarah Barracuda" because of her fierce competitiveness.
Two years later, when she won the "Miss Wasilla" beauty pageant, she was also voted "Miss Congeniality" by the other contestants.
Sarah Barracuda. Miss Congeniality. Fire and nice. A happily married mother of five who is still drop dead gorgeous. And smart to boot.
But it's mostly because she's been a crackerjack governor, a strong fiscal conservative and a ferocious fighter of corruption, especially in her own party.
Ms. Palin touches other conservative bases, some of which Sen. McCain has been accused of rounding. Track, her eldest son, enlisted in the Army last Sept. 11. She's a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association who hunts, fishes and runs marathons. A regular churchgoer, she's staunchly pro-life.
Kimberley Strassel of the Wall Street Journal said Sen. McCain should run against a corrupt, do-nothing Congress, a la Harry Truman. If he should choose to do so, Gov. Palin would make an excellent partner "The landscape is littered with the bodies of those who have crossed Sarah," pollster Dave Dittman told the Weekly Standard's Fred Barnes.
Please, keep on 'misunderestimating' her while Obama keeps on 'misoverestimating' himself. :D

Wrong. It's John McCain's desperate exploitation move that Democrats recognize as shallow. Palin accepted a once in lifetime opportunity. But now she's going to learn some very difficult lessons on the campaign trail. This is not the "Wasilla high school basketball team."
