My mother is canadian and was at the time of my birth. I was born in England in 1986 but my parents were not married so I do not take my nationality from my father. I have been on a Canadian immigration website where it says that I'm legally a canadian citizen, despite being born in england. My question is what rights do me and my partner and daughter have to go and live in canada?

You automatically inherited Canadian citizenship through your mother. Since you were born in England, your mother needs to report your birth to the nearest Canadian consulate. Once your birth certificate is acknowledged by Canadian law, then you can proceed to obtain permanent status for your spouse.
